Crush it! |

So here is one I have thought about. Great Dihedral, Into the Wild, and People’s Republic of Vermont in less than 24 hours. The Sedona Triple Frown. |

Ended up finishing w/ a time of 9h26m. However, i would say our time could have been drastically better had we not made some crucial mistakes.... |

Nice work! Next time why not do Dr Rubos last so you get the easiest climbing when you're tired? |

Kai, good job on climbing the routes pretty quick. I haven’t heard of an FKT. I think that with the driving and hiking involved that there needs to be clear rules established if there is going to be a FKT. Does the driving time count? What’s the start and finish of each route? Base or Trailhead? Is it hiking and climbing time in 24 hours or calendar day? Etc. This weekend we started at the Jacks Canyon Trailhead and linked them all, on foot, finishing at the Sugarloaf Trailhead in a little under 16 hours. We were not trying to go fast or set a record. This way is about 18 miles of hiking. This could be another way to set up the rules. |

Looks like the rules have been set. |

Kai Parker wrote: the rules that were explained to me.. Start time: leaving car for first tower. End time: touching car after last tower. Driving, hiking, climbing time all count. Rules: 1. you must do all approaches with the gear you need to get up the tower. 2. No parking in anything other than the suggested parking spots for all towers on mountain project ( dont park in the neighborhood under oak creek). I’m not big fan of having driving time as part of an FKT. Then part of it is how fast you can drive. Can you have friends drive you? One solution to this would be to establish a time allowance for each drive that would stop the clock, but not add a giant break. Sort of like an Enduro race. Also, can you stash gear to get off the tower, or leave gear behind? Ultimately it sounds like you are going to establish the your own rules, but if you want others to follow, it needs to be clearly laid out. Have you found any other pervious fast times. I’ll be curious to hear how your attempt goes. |

Drive time is hardly a factor in determining how fast you do these towers at MOST the drives will take 40 min (typically 30 min). Driving faster may shave 5 minutes. The idea is to leave with all of your gear from each car and to return with it. Im not anal on rules and im just following pretty basic link up and speed time principles. The fastest time I know of is 4h36m by a soloist. However, its unconfirmed kinda.. So take that as you may. |
|
|
So I do know that the fastest known time goes to our friend and undercrusher Jordan.... whom would never had told the world anything about it. |
|
|
And lets not forget that the ultimate challenge is the 24HTC... 24 hour Tower Challenge. As many towers you can climb in a 24 hour period. We did 9. |

The oak creek spire jump across without the rope O_O |

Ya... good point Derek... He has done it without shoes.... WTF Jordan!!!! |

So these are the rules I've come up with to qualify times... I don't believe any of these rules are too contrived, but would love your opinions. I've attempted the triple for speed 4 times now, and the fastest completed time I've put up is 6h27m. On my last attempt, w my buddy Adam, we were on pace to beat 4h36m (topped The Mace @ 3h9m), but he ran into some super bad cramps and we couldn't continue. |

Can you do it without a car? |
