Anyone interested in bouldering around Kraft boulders Wednesday morning before the rain comes down? I'm visiting, no car no pad, but lots of stoke!

I'm assuming that the chance of rain can be ignored until it's over 25%, no?

No, not really, and anyways it will be higher than that in the morning.

You made the common mistake of googling "weather las vegas" and not "weather red rock canyon".

As well, you can ask questions like this in the previous thread you started instead of starting a whole new one.

Well, excuse me for not being accustomed to the desert weather. In the northeast we tend to ignore chance of rain until it's well over 50%.

In the northeast it doesn't matter how wet the rock is. Our sandstone is fragile. If it was desert limestone or desert granite it would be a different situation.

This is pinpointed on Pine Creek Canyon:

Tuesday Night A 30 percent chance of snow after 4am.  Mostly cloudy, with a low around 32. South wind 7 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph.  New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Wednesday Snow likely, mainly after 10am.  Cloudy, with a high near 39. Breezy, with a south wind 20 to 22 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.  Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.

Wednesday Night Snow likely, mainly before 10pm.  Mostly cloudy, with a low around 33. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.

It's not that. What you're missing is this:

"You made the common mistake of googling "weather las vegas" and not "weather red rock canyon". "

The weather in RRNCA is different - sometimes significantly so - than downtown Vegas. Usually around 10F cooler and often windier. It can be raining in the canyons and dry on the Strip.

Anyone else want to pitch in a tarp to keep the Wave dry?  The extra 2 days of drying out might make me forget the beta.

Last year they were saying not to climb three days BEFORE OR AFTER a rain. Dunno if that policy still holds.

What was the thinking on the BEFORE the rain part? I'm not local, but that seems kinds ridiculous.

I sure don't recall that. Do you have a source?

Or are you just trolling like the rest of us?

Well I think the guy who said that last season was trolling but who knows anymore?

I’m in Vegas right now.
Flash flood watch in effect for Clark county for the next 3 hrs.
Currently pouring rain.
