Fixe Alien Cam Trigger Wire Repair

Has anyone replaced a frayed or broken trigger wire on an Alien Revolution cam? Specifically, I ordered the trigger wire replacement for a Fixe Revolution Alien Green cam from Fixe to replace a frayed trigger wire and the replacment part is different than the part on the actual cam. The cam has a cable that connect at one cam lobe, wraps up and around the trigger wire keeper and back down to the adjacent cam lobe (one continuous wire). The replacement kit from Fixe is 4x straight metal wires (not flexible cable) with a copper/brass button at the end. It seems to be a 4 independent wire system compares to the two looped wire system in the actual cam.

Anyone have any experience replacing the original cables with the metal wires? Send beta if you have it please.

Those wires sound like the ones on my older style aliens. Maybe they sent you the wrong kit??

It's actually a better set up. Independent wires, that is. The longer, "wrap around" wire, if it's tight, can prevent one set of lobes from opening freely. Hard to describe, but it was common with early CCH aliens.

Good thought. I didn’t see the cable type replacement wires in the sight. Just the one kit available in three sizes. I’ll get in touch with Fixe.

I've had similar issues as others have discussed (fraying wires on alien cams and generally poor customer service). Here is what I did this week to replace a trigger wire on a yellow Evo lite alien.

I did the same as the person above

I've also done the same as Julian above several times, except with a paper clip for trigger wires.
Seems to work well for yellow/red, but smaller sizes don't retract smoothly and sometimes get stuck.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
