Kayaking and Climbing

Daydreaming and wondering if there are spots where you can kayak and climb. We were kayaking in Lake Tahoe near Emerald Bay and spotted an area with climbers. Any other spots like that around? |

There’s a video on Vimeo of a guy who climbs el cap then kayaks the Merced river the same day |

You can climb Zion Np and then float the Virgin River, a couple different section varying from class I to V, or put a boat in flat water at Quail Creek Res, Kolob Res, or Sand Hollow Res. Climb in the Virgin River George and float the lower sections of the Virgin River, then go soak in the hot springs at little Jamaica before Mesquite, NV. Climb San Rafael Swell then float the San Rafael River. Climb Moab and float the colorado river, Boulder in Joes Valley and paddle Cottonwood Creek. Climb up Cedar Canyon and float Ash Creek. Climb Rock Canyon in Provo, Ut and then float down the provo river. Climb American Fork Canyon then drive up to Tibble Fork or Silver Lake. |

Big island of Hawaii. End of the world DWS. Also check spots in Croatia. |

You could kayak down the Linville gorge and pull off to climb at the Linville river crag just up from the water. Also lots of boulders along the river to wrestle.

I've paddled the Beaver, Ausable and the Boquet and climbed after... The Beaver is great for this as the climbing is right next to the river and it is dam released so wet rock isn't a huge concern. The Ausable and the Boquet require rain so climbing after demands knowing what crags will be dry locally. The Ausable is great as it is right next to whiteface here in NY so you can ski, climb and boat in the same day if conditions are ideal. I have also guided the Hudson then climbed after, but for the Hudson to be fun it needs to be over 7ft which requires a significant rain event or spring runoff and therefore most climbs will be wet when the Hudson is big. PM me if you have any other questions about this endeavor in the northeast. |

If you want to go hardcore, Hells Canyon on the Snake River fits the bill. Big water class 4’s and unlimited FA’s. |

I’m looking for partners to plan river trip with climbing along the way. Dream would be to paddle middle fork of the kings and then climb tehipite dome. Need to do some less committing trips first though... 248-221-2187. Currently located in SoCal |

Spicer Reservoir. There are some short climbs you can do from the water or you can kayak over and climb at the terraces. |

i wouldnt make a trip/vacation out of it, but when they open the spillway from lake nokamixon to the tohicon creek, it goes right through the gorge below the cliffs at high rocks/ralph stover. you can kayak and climb all in the same day in just about the same spot. ive heard its class 5 in some areas, and ive seen guys just sitting in one spot river surfing for half an hour. |
