Does anyone know how to get discounts on camping fees in the park?

You know that the campground is not "in the park," right?

Access Pass gets you a discount.

Access Pass is for individuals with permanent disabilities. Senior pass is for folks over 62.  If you don't fall into one of those categories you are paying full price at the campground.  Or you can make friends with someone and split the cost of a site.

There are places you can camp for free but they're not that close to the loop road. Also, please note, cat in the hat is closed for renovations.

Its Federal land, why wouldn't the interagency pass work?

The campground is not in the Scenic Loop, where the pass applies.

Interagency passes don't give discounts on camping- they are for park entrances and parking fees.

Right, but it’s still part of the national conservation area.  So barring any asshole concessionaires you should still get the discount.

It is absolutely still part of the convseravtion area and managed by the BLM, however the interagency pass gives zero discounts for camping.

The interagency pass is strictly an entrance pass - it is not a discount pass for anything, including entry, camping, horseback rides, food, lodging, etc.

Incorrect.

I'll give free high-fives to anyone who shows me an interagency pass.

We're talking about the Interagency annual pass (now called the America the Beautiful pass), NOT the ACCESS pass.

If you show me any form of proof that you've given support to our public parks and lands, I'll give you a free high five.

I'll take your high five over 5% off an overpriced patch of sandy soil any day.  :)
