2WD camping suggestions near Estes for quick access to RMNP?

Partner and I are aiming to do the sharkstooth in RMNP early next week if weather stays the same as forecasted. We’re wanting to find some easily accessible dispersed camping, that’s 2WD friendly to sleep near by the night before. Preferably ~20 minutes out of Estes max.

I know pretty much any forestry road is good to go but I don’t want to get into anything high clearance on accident and have to turn around. Any suggestions would be super helpful.

Allenspark, Ski Road (CR 107). Look for the NFS boundary sign, pull in on the left hand side of the road - it's gravel, but you should be able to get in. If that doesn't work, the Olive Ridge campsite will be closed, so just park at the side of CR 101, and wander in.

Also double-check the MVUM for the area. Estes isn't very good for dispersed  camping, and less so for 2WD.

Or just sleep in the Black Lack parking lot illegally like everyone else.

Storm mountain is also a good option. Could get up to the dispersed camping with a Prius.

40 minute drive to Estes from the Monastery camping area though

Your best and quickest bet is to suck it up and pay for a campsite at Moraine Park CG in RMNP. They have bathrooms so you won’t have to shit in the woods, water and the elk are bugling right there. When you wake up, it’s a 10 minute drive to the trailhead. Pay the $30 and enjoy the evening.

Little valley is probably the closest to town and the first few sites are 2wd

Better to give him all the options before counting any out. Of course there are better.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
