La Sportiva Kataki sizing

Hello:  Anybody with Egyptian feet have LaSpo Kataki shoes?  I bought a size 43 EU...

I took advantage of a discount to pick a pair up, my street size is 43.5/ 10.5 US. I wear a size 10 in every Five Ten shoe I own (Coyote, Spire, The Pink, Gambit), and a size 10 US in Boreal(Ballet Gold, Ace, Ninja) as well.

My only LaSpo shoes are the Cobra and Mythos, both in 41.5 but they are tight, and stretched like hell.

I wear a 10.5ish street shoe and a 41 in just about every Sportiva offering (Solution, Muira VS, Futura, Otaki, and Kataki) except Skwama 40.5.  I have a narrow, kinda bony, low volume foot with a regular arch.

My Katakis at 41 are still performance fit but on the comfier side of things.  They did stretch some.  Don’t know if that helps.

What's the question? Sounds like you already made the purchase... 43 will likely be a very comfy multipitch fit if you're a 10.5 street

Yeah, I had to spend some store credit, plus they were 25% off, so my net out of pocket was $30.

Just wondering if my sizing was a little too much on the comfort side. They only had size 43 and the next size down was 41....I have mid-high volume feet, so I didn't think that would work for me.

LaSpo lasts have traditionally been too narrow for my feet, except for the excellent Kaukulators.

I wear a 45.5 or 46 for my street size. My snug fit Katakis are 43.5 and my multipitch pair are 44.5. If I really wanted to squeeze for performance, I could easily step down another half size and go for a toe-knuckling 43.

I also wear a 43.5 in my Miuras, but they fit a little less snug than the same sized kataki, possibly due to more stretch.

I have low volume feet and the Katakis are my favorite climbing shoe that I have tried. When I wear the 43.5 on a long pitch, they do squeeze the sides of my forefoot a little and that's generally where they become uncomfortable for me. I have a slightly narrow forefoot. From what you're saying, I'd kind of be surprised if the Katakis work out for you. They are listed as a low volume shoe. I imagine that they'll be quite big as well at only a half euro down. Ned seems to have a similar experience of going down a full 2 euro sizes from his street size.

Well then, somebody may get a hell of a deal on a pair of shoes, or I'll just return them.

Expect to return them and get a pair of katana laces. The kataki is narrower, for me they're still fine (10 pitches routes with them so far) but they are snug on the outside of my foot near the arch. If you've got really wide mid foot.

I have a 26.5cm foot, so 9/42 street. The 40.5 kataki is between comfortably snug (can lightly wiggle little toes for jamming, bit toes can not curl back, minimal dead space at heel), a 41 left my heels swimming and was just far too big.

OK just got my shoes in the mail....La Sportiva Muira's VCR in size 41.0????

The outside of the box was correct, but the wrong shoes inside. I am returning obviously, but hey are sold out of the Kataki's

I'm going to have to go with my current quiver for now, since I got these with store credit.

Buck, if you want a pair of 42.5 slightly more worn otakis, I can trade you.  They should fit a bit more snug.

Hey, thanks for the offer, but I still have a bunch of store credit that I will use when they get more shoes in...

I have a bunch of shoes, so it isn't like I am hurting for footwear....but the Kataki's look cool, and would be great for shorter routes and gym climbing.

Dude:  You haven't seen my "coached up" Boreal Ballet Gold's....rigid crack climbing machine with C4 rubber.  Seriously, they are edging and crack aid.

I wear a size 10 (snug fit) in 5.10 Pinks, a size 10US in all Boreal and all over the place for La Sportiva.

Would a size 42.5 (9.5US) be unbearably tight?  Too loose?  I do not have overly thin or super wide feet.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
