Climbing weather dot com gives weather forecasts for 119 areas in California. I counted today. I’ve climbed at only 41 of them even though I’ve been climbing in CA for a long time.

I’ll bet some of you out there can claim quite a few more!!  Let’s hear, if you have a few minutes to count.

Got caught in quite an intense hail storm today in Mammoth Lakes. We pushed it even after it started to spit because it was only 11 AM and we were hoping it would hold off for a while. Hence checking the forecast for tomorrow!

I've hit 45 after about 7-8 years of climbing in CA. Some are rather obscure.

Curious - haven't seen this site before. Do you find it more accurate than weather underground or the NOAA references embedded in MP climbing area pages?

I find the format convenient. Especially when I’m where I am now, on the eastern Sierra, I can look at a bunch of possible venues at a glance.  I’ve only done a comparison a few times, when I’ve been agonizing over a decision where to go.

That makes sense. Reminds me why I ended up climbing at some of the obscure locations. I'd analyze the weather data and magically "tollhouse rock" was the only location in northern CA not receiving thunderstorms. We got there and realized how desperate and hopeful we had been, experiencing thunderstorms for 34 of our 36 hour stay.

A quick count gives me 50.

The underlying forecasts are picked up from the NWS national digital forecast database. It's basically the same forecast that you see on MountainProject.

Quick glance gives me 76. Not bad for having only been climbing for 6 years

That’s quite impressive to me!

Get an app called Storm Radar. It’ll tell what up in the next 6 hours.

You'll be rained out of all of them soon. Oregon in summer is lovely. Can't say the same for the other parts of the year.

Try out mountain-forecast.com.   I use it for backcountry skiing and climbing off the beaten track. Wind and precip by elevation.  Nothing compares to the aviation weather sites, though.

Sorry didn't stay on task long enough to count all the places I've climbed ...comes out to a lot though.  Phylp but how many out of state would you add to that.!

I counted 54 - that was fun!

I'm somewhere around 40, including bouldering areas. I'm not counting Yosemite and Tuolomne, or Tahquitz and Suicide as separate areas.

My excuse for the short list is that I did focus intensely on certain areas for extended periods of time.

76? That's really something.

Oh wait, that reminds me I did climb in Santa Barbara one day! One more for me.

it's kind of a lame list. lots of places that get you a double count. and many many areas that are absent. or maybe i'm just bitter cause my count is pretty low :(

Yeah, I ended up skipping areas that were duplicates - I probably could have come in over 60 if I didn't.

I've been to 97 of the listed crags but some things are listed twice and some are so vague that it makes little sense, ( Los Angeles Basin, Black Mountain listed twice.

That doesn't surprise me, Bill - but it may be for the "who are you?" kid... LOL.

Eric, I have to laugh about that "who are you" kid, it took some measure of restraint for me not to flame him but I'm not Medusa!  LOL!!!

It is kind of a weird list!  For example, one of the areas listed is Indian Rock in Berkeley!  Not exactly a destination crag. But it was a fun little diversion to look through the list and count

Maureen, haven’t had time to count the areas outside California I have climbed, I’d guess only around 20. Not that many.
