Hey! In Corvallis for the week- wondering about local/nearby climbing areas? If anyone in the area is looking for a partner I don’t have my harness but I can lead sport 5.10, 11a.

Hey, I'm in Portland but I've been wanting to tick the routes at Owl Slab.

Hi Caroline, welcome! Corvallis is a great place. Owl Slab on Mary's peak has some (very) short easy things. If you head towards the cascades, there are interesting things to do on Wolf Rock. Rooster Rock is a huge approach for two easy pitches, but WHAT A VIEW from the top. Lovely.

Owl slab on Marys Peak is close. 5.8 max i believe. I have heard of some boulders and a few pinnacles or towers up there as well though never searched them out. Harlan quarry is a bit west of there though I've never been to that either. The Portland area crags seem to be where lots of people in the valley climb. Or just head over to Smith Rock.

Thanks for the suggestions! Didn’t pack all my Climbing gear so currently reliant on a partner to have gear.  I’m gonna have to come back here for smith rock another time :)

Hey Caroline,

The climbing opportunities around Corvallis are pretty slim, but check out the following:

Willamette Valley...Mary's Peak...Owl Slab. This is 15 miles west of Corvallis.

Willamette Valley...Harlin Quarry.  This is 25 miles west of Corvallis.

Willamette Valley...Skinner's Butte (the Columns). This is 45 miles south of Corvallis, in downtown Eugene.

And bring your gear next time.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
