Yeah but what about the Dragonflies? It's been a year since they were announced.

They had them there and they look nice. It's funny you mention it, I didn't even think to ask about release date because all of the new items at booths generally have a "New!" tag next to them, and the Dragonflies didn't; I guess because they were announced a year ago? So, sorry, I don't know when they'll be released.

Hey Grivel! Instead of making jaguar climbing harnesses, how about making the new picks available and improving distribution in North America? I want to give you my money and extend the life of my ice tools with fresh steel!

DMM said that they are coming out of production and starting to be shipped, so it should be any day now.

I found this to be both "crazy" and "exciting"

Haha thanks D, but I don't think that's exciting to anybody but a select few ;-)

What could possibly be more important than leopard-print harnesses!?!?

New and updated Patagonia Ascentionist Packs in this recent video.

On a serious note, though, the half nuts from DMM seemed pretty interesting. BD Z4s were very nice in the hand. And the DMM founder told me that offset cams are definitely next on their list of projects. The Scarpa Veloces seemed like they'll be an awesome super soft shoe, and a there are a few updates to the Booster S. That's all that comes to mind, nothing crazy exciting or groundbreaking that I saw...

Are you sure it was Denny Moorehouse that you spoke to about DMM products?

No idea who we was; I was talking to a guy at their booth about the half nuts, but someone he had a meeting with arrived, so he handed me off to an older guy and said something about him being one of the founders of DMM and he could answer my questions.

That solution comp looks interesting, narrower heel but with less tension, might actually work for me.

Really interested in this. 55 liter version, wow. Wonder if they're also going smaller than the current 30. The 25 was a great size for my use.

La Sportiva Solution Comp “This shoe is based off our existing Solution, but we made the heel of it more like other solutions in our line,” Genauer said. “The heel is more rigid, making the overall shoe a little less sensitive. It’s more sensitive and better for heel hooking. It’s also a little narrower at the heel.”

Say what now?

It's just a typo, they're referring to adding S-heel to the solution comp, making for a less sensitive heel.

So the s-heel is less sensitive? Interesting since I always thought the Solution's heel was already not that sensitive. It'll be interesting to try them out.

The only La Sportiva heel that works for me is the Katana's, so looks like these are not going to fit me.

Allot of things, like how budget brands are using the same insulation as stuff that cost double or more, think about the patagonia tax, think about the marketing and how that effects your purchasing, and how non of these big companies are really doing anything new as far as the materials involved.

Yeah it cost more to pay a living wage and make a higher overall quality product. And "better" in the insulation world can mean a lot of things, yeah a 650 vs 800 jacket of the same amount of fill will be different levels of warmth but the 650 will last longer.

Sketchers, La Sportiva, Vans, and Nike also share some of the same vendors.

The Solution and S heel are the 2 least sensitive heels of any shoe I have ever worn. So they then make it thinner, apparently looking like a Futura heel, and claim it's somehow less sensitive. But that comp climbing requires more sensitivity.

If it's a typo and the Solution has any stretch this could actually be my shoe since it's a slightly narrower Skwama with much better build quality.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
