That isn't actually what I said... bit of a reading comprehension fail... but I would agree that racism is worse for society than simple theft.

It's so noble of you to talk the talk, now let's see you walk the walk.

Your next post should be a trip report.

I am wondering, could someone be a thief and a racist? I've noticed a common theme across Devin's victims...

On tv they call it a racist dog whistle but here is the thing, I can’t hear a dog whistle and neither can you.

I'm going to be in Yosemite with my partner for both of our first time this July! I know it's going to be really hot, but we're tough and also only have the one chance so we're just gonna suck it up. Anybody got ideas for moderates, probably no more than 2-3 pitches, that'll let us see the valley without clogging up ultra-classics and pissing off locals? Super excited to have the added fun of dodging a gear thief... a guy next to me at Penitente Canyon got his grigri and belay goggles stolen this weekend!

Quick edit- obviously I know about route finder, but having no real sense for Yosemite grades, what the valley is really like, and where we can take our time without stepping on toes, I thought it would be good to ask y'all :)

And here I was starting to think you might have some redeeming qualities because of your bighorn sheep post, which I appreciated.

Thanks for providing your source. The above reads to me as a poor attempt at humor on Billcoe's part, not a serious complaint that it's racist to post a photo of a black thief.

So he steals peoples gear but returns stuck ropes?  Weird.  Would be very interested in what Christian
Hesch has to say about him.

Devin Andretti's Avatar photo does not look anything like the pic Camp4 watchdog posted.

Well he steals peoples gear and lies about his name so Im sure hes not against using a fake picture.  Plus look at the picture that user posted of leading after six.  The profile pic is of a white guy picture posted of after six is a black guy.

Whoa, whoa....maybe Devin identifies as a 23 year old white hipster climber.

I wish people understood definitions better, it would make conversations more productive with less animosity. Racism is believing one race is superior to another. Jokes may be racially insensitive. Believing someone has certain characteristics because of how they look is prejudice. But many people just lump those all together as racist.

The first thing I thought when I saw the picture was: great. There’s such a small percentage of black climbers in the US, that this guy is really going to feed into some peoples prejudice notions. Which this thread has confirmed.

If you judge someone by their words and actions it’s not prejudice. If you agree to climb with someone and it becomes apparent they are lying about their abilities and experience, that may be your first indication they can’t be trusted.

It's obvious that the color of his helmet is not the same.

That's literally why they call it a dog whistle... The idea is that you are saying something which maybe doesn't seem racist on the face of it but other racists understand it. I'm happy things are better since when you were young but it's not hard to see that racism still exists.

Dude:  Is that why my gay uncle was always called "flamboyant"???

No, I'm not joking.  I live in an area with about 1.9 percent African-American population and there are so many offenders of dark skin arrested for violent crimes that all the local media have literally quit printing their photos for that very reason. That's the truth , not a joke.

That was my horrible attempt at trying to say that he is untrustworthy so I would take the rope post with a grain of salt.  It's early, haven't had my internet coffee yet

Haha got you.  Ya internet sarcasm is often hard to detect.  Still confused why he returned a stuck rope of someone he never met before but steals partners cams.
