CONDITIONS IN WILD IRIS IN LATE MAY
Anybody have an update of the climbing conditions in Wild Iris right now? Also, planning a trip in late may, does anybody know what they will be like at that time? |
There is a lot of snow up there right now and it will get more tomorrow. However, by late may it should be mostly dried out. There will likely be a drift that keeps you from getting to the parking lot, but you can walk from that point in the road. |

We went up yesterday and the drift at the Limestone Mtn. Road was not conducive to driving without off road impact. I would imagine a week to go past that point. |

Tim, you can always give the good people of Wild Iris Mountain Sports a call at 307-332-4541 to get a conditions update. Hope that helps. Wild Iris is usually climbable by late May. |

Main wall and aspen glades are blocked by snow drifts but still semi-accessible if you're highly motivated. |

Got like half a foot last night and should get more there this week. |

Drove by the other day on my way to Ten Sleep. It was dumping snow Thursday the 23rd. On my way home on the 27th it was cold and snow/rain. I would say it is manageable but personally there seems to be better options right now. |

Folks climbed at the main wall yesterday, Sunday June 2nd. Unable to get to either of the parking areas due to drifts, so park respectfully and thoughtful if you choose to get up there. This week’s forecasted temps might allow access to Aspen Glades parking, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the drift is there a little longer yet. I wouldn’t recommend trying to camp anywhere up there. |
