Is it just me or does the VRG look like it has a ton of potential for big multipitch routes? Any particular reason why it’s not as popular as some other winter destinations?
Those walls are technically wilderness so no power drilling is allowed, that's according to the BLM. Plus folks who want that kind of experience would seek out a more peaceful venue to put all that time into something, that's just my opinion though. Conversely, the sport climbing at blasphemy/planet earth/mentor cave IS close enough to the highway that it doesn't hold a wilderness definition, and it's so so good (and accessible) that the roadside noise is a small price to pay.
