I have one in good/very good condition. I had no intention of parting with it but I recently had a pleasant conversation with another MP user who was interested in buying one. Ultimately we didn't reach a deal but it did make me wonder what it might be worth...

The original retail was $235 - of course they're no longer made and are hard to find and have become somewhat of a cult classic and deservedly so - one of the best cragging packs ever made and still one of the best. I see them on eBay every once in awhile, but they are almost always a short or a tall size - mine is a regular.

Thoughts?

I bought one on here for 50$ and it was a regular.

So I'd say 50-100$

I just bought one for $200 shipped barely used. I was happy to pay that seeing that they’re $235 new any you can’t find them. I would think in great shape it’s easily worth $150-$175 no doubt. You got a killer deal Gene, whoever sold it at that low IMHO.

The Patagonia Cragsmith has made buying high priced, used Arc’teryx Muiras a thing of the past in my mind.

Yeah the Cragsmith, the Mammut Neon Gear and Neon Smart all accomplish the same thing the Muira did.

I see em on eBay around 150 and lower sometimes. Nice bags.

the patiguci one has a real hip-belt, those mammut bags are garbage have no hip belt and do not carry weight well. the gucie bag appears to be made of a lower density material... doubt it would hold up.

I was wondering if I’m crazy for getting a ‘backup’ Muira 50. Nope. I was also wondering about the durability of the cragsmith or the neon 45.

First off, Patagucci have always had zipper problems on damn near everything, let alone a cragging pack. Red flag. Plus, neither of those bags look like they have the true clamshell design of the Muira 50. The zipper(s!) on the Muira 50 is bombproof.

My first one was a birthday gift, best present I’ve ever gotten. That pack has been through hell, just like yours Rob. It’s now 10, and getting a few repairs done on it right now. I bought a second to use til it’s dead.

The Muira 50 was the best cragging pack ever made, there is no doubt in my mind. People would be fools to sell them for under $100. Thanks for confirmation of my initial thinking Rob. I’ll never sell either of mine, and they’re worth the price used for sure.

Why Arc’teryx ever stopped making it is beyond me. Just like BD C3’s. W....T.....F....

It doesn't look like any of these can carry ice tools.... Maybe some come with the loops as an additional option. Muira was perfect. I am suprised when the masses ask for something from the past how reluctant companies are to listen. La Sportiva had perfection with their approach shoes, Exum Guides.... discontinued and haven't been has happy with anything they've put out since.

Thanks for the input folks - I agree with everything said here. I too love the Cragsmith packs but the body of the pack is essentially connected to the straps and harness by a zipper - that’s not what a zipper is designed for and there’s no way it will hold up as well as the Miura. And without a frame when the load gets heavy it won’t carry as well either. I was offered $200 for mine (in very good condition) but I asked for $300... it sounds like $200 was a legit price but $300 might indeed be a bit too much. I just wasn’t willing to let mine go for $200 because it’s still worth that much to me.
