See the picture. Wonderful device, they don't make them anymore, and Ebay has sadly failed me. If you or someone you know has one in reasonable condition that you'd be willing to sell please PM me and let me know.

EDIT 4/29: Still looking. Would prefer the initial version with teeth on the friction bar over the later version without.

Have you looked at the mammut alpine bionic? It looks very similar.

Just to clarify I'm preferably looking for the version with the ridges on the catch side (as seen in the picture).

Ok. If you change your mind this is the one I have. $25 shipped.

Just curious Ryan, but the auto lock clipping point on ye ol’ Reverso is different than the Reverso 2 or 3. Is this the attraction of the old school device? As in parallel versus perpendicular?

Ryan, here is a link to a guy here on MP who has just the one you want, for sale! mountainproject.com/forum/t…

Thank you Evan!

Woodson I do prefer that orientation for the auto lock, so that's part of the draw. The Black Diamond Guide-ATC has a similar arrangement though, so if that were the only concern I wouldn't be hunting for ye olde Reverso. It's more that it just...works. Our local climbing club has one in their inventory that's been serving for the better part of two decades and it's still going strong. It belays smoothly but has enough grip that holding someone isn't a chore, and I've never had a better rappel. I also just really like the bent metal plate construction as opposed to the modern block designs.

Gotcha. I don’t see many of those around, but now I’m privy. I’ll keep my eyes peeled for them.

Ah, good ol’ Petzl Reversino. Hard to find for your skinnies.

No sir. OP is looking for a full size Reverso. The Reversino was red and gold. It also was originally designed with a toothed friction bar and was later updated to a smooth piece of steel bar stock as pictured below. I have a later version Reversino (not for sale) with the smooth steel.

Jim Titt tested the original reverso along with other tube style devices and found it had horrible holding power. They also can quickly develop very sharp edges. Not a fan.

I've heard about the sharp edge thing but never seen it, so I don't know. Like I said the one I've had the most experience with has been going for ages and it still works like a charm.

For the sharp edges, it definitely happens, but all you have to do is rappel with it backwards semi-frequently and that stops the issue from coming up

It's definitely not in very good condition but if you're desperate for one to hold you over until you find one in better condition you can have this for $4 + shipping.

Thank you. I have to wait till late May for a friend to bring it over from the States anyway, so I'll keep looking for one in better condition for a bit. If none show up though I'll get back to you.

If it helps at all, I also have two non-toothed Reversos in similar condition. You can have them for $3 each.

How do the non-toothed ones compare to the toothed one, performance wise?
