Clear Creek Emergency Closure April 5th
|
|
Yesterday I was heading to climb in clear creek, but 6 was closed. We ended up going to tiers of Zion and someone there told me the closure was due to a climbing accident at wall of the ‘90s. Does anyone have information about what caused the closure? Would they really close the whole road for a climbing accident? |

Clear Creek is closed 10a-6p Mon-Fri for rock fall mitigation through end of April |

Yes they closed the entire road. It was a technical rescue that took many hours. I know the person involved - keep her in your thoughts please. It was not Wall of the 90's - High Wire area. Did not happen while climbing. |

Seems as though I was punked then |

Highway 6 is closed east of Mayhem Gulch, Monday through Thursday 10-5, not 10-6. |

Just curious as highlining's usually pretty safe and I'd like to know what went wrong if so for safety reasons, but there's a bunch of rumors floating around. |

I can confirm this person does highlining. She was not highlining at the time of her accident. |

Curt - sent you a PM |

I guess my question would be why people need details? No offense Shay. I did share some things with Curt because he does SAR in the area (Alpine wasn’t on this call I don’t believe). But for now I think it’s enough to say she was not actively high lining or climbing. |

assuming she is the person linked in the fb post, she looks really familiar, does she climb at movement in denver? hope she is doing ok. kind of a rough area up there - wouldn't take much to get hurt. |

The FB photos look kind of like the start of the sketchy downclimb to the Low Wire area? In any case, the whole High Wire/Low Wire/Wall of Justice has some pretty sketchy approach, someone can easily slip and get hurt. Best wishes to the injured. |
