Harper's ferry??
|

I just started back into climbing about a year ago so I'm still alittle out of the loop. Does anyone know what the heck is going on at Harper's ferry? |

Last I heard, from a park employee, is that there was instability and they were awaiting a geotechnical report. This was months after the mudslide so take it how you will. |

They gave me the same song and dance months ago as well. I feel there are ulterior motives for keeping Harper's Ferry closed. |

Stupid question: Is there a way to obtain said geotechnical report if it has indeed been conducted? Using FOIA? |

Washington County (MD) reports, as of March 4, 2019 - "Sandy Hook Road – The National Park Service is still working on the design and historic preservation process for Sandy Hook Road, Catchment Wall, Bank Stabilization-Landslide area. At this time, the National Park Service has not indicated a timeframe for these repairs." |

I don't believe it has been done yet based on the county website. The issue is that it is hard to see how this closure is relevant to climbing... Especially given that hiking in the same area had never been closed off. |

MD heights closed until August for peregrine falcon nesting. Looks like most other things are open. |
