Looks good but no free biner

Still waiting on mine, but excited.

-Kevin, did you ever try rope solo’ing with yours? While not the same, i used mine a couple times for TR solo and it fed really well.

I've TR soloed with the Cinch with a microtrax backup back in the day. I don't TR solo very much so not too much experience there, mostly just lead soloing.

But you have lead solo’d with it succesfully?

No. I use a silent Partner or a revo for my lead soloing. (Or a grigri if it's shortfixing)

I bought one when it first came out and decided against sending it in for the recall (I actually bought 2). It's not great for lead soloing. When it locks it tends to stay engaged even when tension is removed. I went back to using a grigri and a microtrax for managing the rope.

It's not bad for TR soloing, particularly on lower angle terrain

I'm curious how the vergo works as a tr solo primary. Seems like the ideal for working projects. How does it feed compared to other devices? How much do you need to wieght the rope? I appreciate any responses!

I can comment on 2 things. It does work, tried it in the gym but used a sandbag as a rope weight, so it fed great but I don’t know how little ropeweight you do need.  Worked well with a bungee harness. My Virgo handle broke before I could do more testing
It must be the top device, it will not lock underneath another device

Mine worked great with a full nalgene as the rope weight. I’ve also used it as a backup for jugging.

And it also works as the bottom device. I’ve tested it, and it locks. But probably better as the top.

In my experience, the less weight you can get away with, the better. I weighted my rope with the pack before and the heavy tension on the rope caused the device to lock easier. Angle of the route has a lot to do with it as well. Lower angle or slightly less than vertical seems to help while overhanging terrain where the rope is free hanging may cause an issue. Of course, I've only used it on a few dozen pitches so results may vary. I also only used it as the top (and only) device.

Why would the angle of the rock effect the vergo? I tr solo mostly steep basalt

I guess it depends on how its set up, but a free hanging rope (particularly with a heavy weight) is gonna pull the rope tighter than if it is resting on lower angle terrain. If the rope is tighter, the device doesnt feed as smooth, as when it locks up, you kind of have to manually release the camming action moreso than a grigri. I'm kind of butchering the explanation, but thats just my impressions with it. not the best device for TR soloing.
