So this question is really just for the folks in the TN upper cumberland area.
What's the word on Sheeps Bluff in the cookeville area?
I know previously it was only open to bouldering on the lower side of the road. However I heard it was open on the upper side of the road earlier this year, which is the far better side. Then through rumors I've heard it's all closed now. Does anybody on here have any knowledge of the situation before i head out there now that we're starting to have warmer weather.
Lower side is free and clear. Upper side currently in a land dispute. The guy who bought it is climber friendly but you still may get yelled at by the other guy. I'll try to get in touch with the land owner this week and try to give a better update.
Thanks for the reply. That's good to hear that the owner is climber friendly, I had went out there earlier this year for the first time, and it had so much more to work on than the lower side.
Upper side of the road is marked with no trespassing signs and purple paint for the last year or so. Unfortunately I do not see any changes in the land status in the near future. The lower side is still private but the landowner tolerates climbers and I believe it is frequented by Cookeville locals. Any motivated individuals can try their hand at contacting the upper side land owner (via TN property viewer and a little detective work) but with deer season right around the corner, I'm would not hold my breath.
On another note Christopher, being that you are from Sparta, I would suggest you check out Dog Cove. It is a relatively new addition to TN State Parks system. Access is controlled by the state but the cliffs and majority of the boulders are owned by the nature conservancy. The rock quality is above average (much better than sheep's IMO) and worth checking out. About 1.5 miles of cliffline and hundreds of boulders littered around the 'hollar. Basically no development has taken place outside of a handful of routes and even less scrubbed boulders. Watch out for the hogs though.
Happy to answer any questions.

Hey Joe,
Give me a shout, I'd like to check out Dog when it cools down a bit.
