I heard they are considering mandatory helmets for lead climbers too.
I asked PG Belmont's manager last night about it. He said it's included in their waiver that people choose or decline to use a helmet, and that the gym will not consider making it mandatory. Now I wonder if Tradiban was just joking about it and I took it seriously :)
Insurance doesn't specificly require the Gri, they just tell you that so you stop asking questions.
The insurance company wants to see consistency in policy and clear safety protocol. However the gym can achieve that is up to them.

LOL, that reminds of getting insurance a couple years ago. The woman doing the interview asked if I climbed mountains. I asked if she meant stuff like Everest and Denali. She said yes. A week later, someone called to ask why I’d lied about climbing. I replied that I had not lied, I wasn’t asked about rock climbing...
