Anyone swinging any tools yet?

Is there any climable ice yet? I'm going to be on Christmas break in a few days and might be skiing in the Tahoe area. I have my own gear (except screws) but I've never climbed ice before. If anyone wants to teach me to ice climb that would be super awesome.

It's been pretty warm this week. I haven't checked, but I doubt it.

I climbed roadside in June Lake on Monday. It’s thin, but it’ll take screws if you are strategic. Bring a broom.

Today, I was out at whiskey cliffs/sunny falls, some of whiskey is climbable, looks like it’ll take screws. Some pretty legit looking mixed lines right now. Sunny falls was thin/chandeliery, but again - it’ll take screws if you look for it. 

I just read on Summitpost that “as of the writing of this, roadside ice is closed”, but it looks like it’s a few years old. Anyone know if this is still the case? If so, I apologize for climbing/posting about it. Not trying to step on anyone’s toes or ruin it for everyone.

Roadside definitely was not closed this year in early spring when I climbed there

By the way, if anyone is looking for ice climbing partners for the tahoe area please reach out!

Pics from 5 days ago after the cold snap, its been warm since then so probably has changed but there was climbable ice up there, bring your stubby's!!!
