Hello guys! I'm Josh, I moved to Colorado a couple of months ago and lived before in Austria. As I love the mountains, i decided to start iceclimbing. I already bought myself some Petzl Lynx crampons and Petzl Nomics. I love them and i would honestly sleep with them :D
Now my question to the experienced guys under you is, I am a complete gear Junkie and always love the best toys. I would like to buy myself new picks and frontpoints, and after some Google research I found some companies which offer some real good looking gear. Can someone recommend me something and did anyone here already tried some gear from this guys?
Sport-Steinle.com or krukonogi.com or kuznia
Would be great to here some advice and meanings from you!
Thanks a lot! Cheers, Josh

If you're just starting to climb ice, don't bother purchasing additional picks and frontpoints. Just use the ones that came with your Nomics and Lynx.

Thank you guys! As I said, I am unfortunately a complete gear Junkie and love new stuff! I still would love to "upgrade" my tools and crampons. Did someone of you both tried a brand i named?

IMO aftermarket picks aren't typically a performance upgrade, but can be more durable than the original picks (especially for Xdreams).
As others have said, as a beginner buying replacements is a waste of money, but if you insist, I recommend you wasting your money on Howey Tools picks http://howeytool.com/ice-tool-picks/

Generally, if you are on the Front Range and spending any time in RMNP, your picks and front points will be worn down very quickly. I might suggest going with something like Krukonogi and saving your stock picks/points for the rare times that you are climbing pure ice. I usually wear down a set of pick/points early in the season and just climb them until they are dull. You don't really need sharp points for most of the climbing in the Park.
I don't think Krukonogi picks are compatible with Nomic hammers. As others have said: howeytool.com/store/?model_…

did you buy the new 2018 Nomics? If so they came with the pur'ice picks. In that case maybe get some separate picks for mixed climbing to save the pur'ice for waterfalls (either Petzl or some other others). If you bought the previous version Nomics with the ice picks then pick up some Petzl pur'ice picks (I would definitely pick the 2018 version and not the previous ones. easy to identify by the very small teeth on the top for the 2018 version) for pure ice and use the ice picks for mixed till they are worn out. I think the Petzl ice and mixed picks are exactly the same widths and very similar geometry with the biggest difference being the spikes on the top side of the mixed picks. Since I don't do much hard drytooling I actually prefer the ice picks for mixed routes since the tools are much nicer to hold on the head in cane mode.

Sport-Steinle Picks are impressive! Have them on X-Dreams...larger profile edges on tip make for easy maintenance and secure swings...

As a beginner you aren’t going to be putting in learning mileage on anything that will require an “upgrade” to your current, new, equipment. Your money would be better spent dialing in the best pair of boots, clothing systems and other things that make ice climbing what it is. Get your systems dialed, then maybe swap some things out... that’s a long time down the road...
