Just because someone has been climbing for 10 years doesn't mean they are proficient, they could be lucky.  Get educated.  If you hire a guide, hire a certified guide, at least he's past some sort of measure, it's peace of mind for you.  Don't get complacent, close the system, use a backup when rappelling, wear a helmet, but most of all have fun.
