If you’re just looking for some light hikers with Gore-Tex for a great price, the Catalyst GTXs are the way to go. These are higher cut versions of the Genesis line that La Sportiva has right now, and these are 60% off retail in our nocogear.com store and eBay link. We had some 37.5 women testers who thought these in size 38 have fit well with fall hiking socks, so expect these to fit a bit small. Size 42 for men’s run true maybe a little small, which to us means 8.5/9 or solid 9 shoe sizes wearers will find them well fitting. But all pairs work in pretty well.
Women’s Fit:
Women’s trail running shoes (with thin running socks) and light hikers (with fall thicker socks). The 38s for women run true to size, if on the small side. So those that are true US 7s, these would work great and those at 7.5 would find them tight. We also have some 37.5 trail runners and hikers that run true to size (6.5 US women tested these and agree that they fit nicely snug).
Women’s Nucleo GTX, Core High GTX, all Trango models, size 38 sturdy hiking boots fit very well and true to size. These work in a bit more as well, so those in the low range (6.5/7 US) and the high range (7/7.5) would find these comfortable, adjusting the fit with sock thickness.
First Impressions on the TX2, TX3, and TX4s in women’s (approach shoes, some with Gore-Tex, with thin running socks) run small, so someone with size 38 needs in these models should not expect them to fit, but those at and 37.5 would find these comfortably snug.
Tarantulace and Tarantulas fit true according to a couple testers, with standard width (B) feet.
Men’s Fit:
Trail runners (thin running socks) and light hikers (thicker hiking socks) in men’s 42 fit true for those who shift between 8.5 and 9 US, but will be a bit tight for the 9/9.5 wearers. They definitely work in a bit too but not so that regular wearers of 9.5 would ever find them comfortable.
Men’s Nucleo GTX, Core High GTX, all Trango models, sturdy hiking boots fit very well and true to size. These work in a bit more as well, so those in the low range (8.5/9 US) and the high range (9/9.5) would find these comfortable, adjusting the fit with sock thickness.
First Impressions of the TX2, TX3, and TX4 Approach shoes in men’s (approach shoes, some with Gore-Tex, with thin running socks) run true, so someone with size US 9 is OK. With regular use, men in 9.5 also found these OK to wear and snug.
Tarantulace and Tarantulas fit true according to a couple testers with standard width (D) feet.
