The time the recall took for both was, and clearly still is for the Vergo, unacceptable. For those who will say, but at least they recalled it and took steps to fix it, you are wrong. No self respecting business with even decent expectations would release a product only to have it recalled twice in a short period of time. Quite a few people in the company f-ed up for this to happen which makes me loose serious trust. I wont be buying anything from them again, and will suggest the same to others. I've whipped on enough of their draws to not have this problem.

I take the first sentence about Summer OR to mean that they'll be announcing the re-release of the Vergo in about a month, but who knows.

Lol I am just curious as to why they havent figured out how to fix this issue in a year. If I recall right, the recall issue was not that complicated in the first place and so it should have been a relatively quick fix for them.

I'm in the market for an autoassist belay device. I was considering this, the paddock lifeguard, and the geigri. What are your guys thoughts between these or any of the others (camp? More?)

Realize that without telling us your specific niche, we've no way of informing you of the device that would best fit.
So here's my thoughts: Get whichever one is convenient to get ahold of and is on sale. Then go out and climb and stop comparing devices because you already have one.

I'll et you carry on about the recall for a few more pages. Sorry i interrupted.

Anyone at OR who can roll by the Trango booth and see when we might be able to learn more, or better yet, what it is they're planning?

So today's the last day of OR, and I have yet to hear even a whisper of the word "Vergo". Ryan's been pretty conservative with his info in the past, and when he has given a little, he's been pretty reliable, so I'm a bit surprised they didn't make the announcement he seems to think they were going to.
In any case, I can't see them waiting until the last day or until after it's over to make a big announcement like the return of the Vergo, so either they're scrapping it or they're going to wait even longer. I'm kind of astonished they're having such a hard time with this thing. It's been a year since the (most recent) recall.

I didn't look too closely, but I did not see a Vergo on display at the booth.

I have recently seen Trango employees at the BRC "testing" the new model. The only difference I saw externally was a shiny silver cap where the crappy plastic cap keeping the handle spring in place was. I asked them about eta on new units and they are just saying that they are continuing to test them.
Still hopeful I will get mine back. I waited this long, so what is another month or two (or three or four...). It was definitely my favorite assisted brake device due to the ergonomics of it and ease use.

I used my post-first recall and pre-second recall Vergo this weekend climbing in Tuolumne. It was awesome.

Just curious what people think of the cinch vs the vergo. I've been using a cinch, but recently got a chance to try a vergo. I think the cinch feeds more easily, I wouldn't call it an auto-locker, you really need to keep your brake hand on the rope. Maybe less so for the vergo.

Where does your hand naturally want to go? I find pinching the holes on the cinch feels more natural than the grooves on the vergo. Same basic position though.
