Lately I've been using SkaylorGear. So far no complaints.

Had a 3 week drop off turn around this month at R&R. Shoes look good and tested well at the gym last night. It is the only shop I have used for 6 or so resoles. Always done well. I am sure a bunch others do well also.

Agreed speaking as someone from Seattle. Dave P is a dick

Surprised nobody has mentioned Ramuta's Resoles in Helena, Montana.  I have had John resole several pairs, and the work has always been flawless.  When I've talked to him on the phone, he's always been super helpful.  Would definitely recommend.

Is anyone concerned about Adidas not making Stealth available to re-solers? On most of my shoes (I am a shoe junkie) I have C4, I am used to C4, I know how it responds and what it will stick to, given my weight etc.   Since R&R was out of it, I had my all-day shoes (5.10 Spires) re-soled with XS Grip.  The paradigm has changed: last night I was climbing at the gym and my feet skated on holds I know the C4  would stick to. Not a huge deal and I'll get used to it, but dammit, I want my C4 back...

  1. still available.  Adidas only temporarily stopped giving it to resolers, probably to see what the market reaction would be.

I use XS edge and I found the exact opposite when I tried C4 I skated with the C4. Over time they seemed to be about the same. its all in your head. Give it a few weeks and I bet you do not even notice it.

I hear you, I have a pair of Mythos with XS Edge and the are fine. But the re-sole I just had with XS GRIP feels less secure than C4 on the same shoes. Probably in my head, by I don't want it there.

Jacob Agger wrote: Hey I know there is at least one thread from 8 years ago on the best place to get shoes resoled but I was hoping for some more up to day opinions. I was thinking of either using Rock and resole or New England resole. I also talked to someone who mentioned the rubber room, but know very little about them. I was leaning towards New England resole until I heard that they were going through some changes recently and it might have impacted their quality, but that information might have been out of date.

If it makes a difference to anyone's opinion I was going to get my solutions resoled and have never had shoes resoled before.

I've seen one friend's pair of down turn shoes come back from Rock and Resole that had half soles and rands done. The work looked excellent and the wait time was not terrible. I'll probably try them in the future.

I strongly suggest you do not use New England Resoul. Myself and several other climbers I've talked to have all had shoes come back that had been destroyed. Mine, the toe box was collapsed and the shoe ended up shorter in length from a rand replacement.

The Rubber Room has been my main goto for several years now. Their work is excellent, I've never had any bad work from them with multiple resoles, and the customer service is good. The only downside like many others have mentioned is the long wait times. It's unfortunate as they probably figure they've got so much guaranteed work they can not do anything about it and just increase the wait time expectations. But the long wait times are what is likely for me to look elsewhere. My last resole was almost two months to get back.

I've also seen a resole from Pro Deal Resoles that looked like really nice work. And he rushed the job for a climbing trip at the request of my friend. His prices though are now more in line with everyone else.

I used to use them for a few years until myself and my friends noticed that they tend to round off the edges too much on their resoles. Same shoes resoled elsewhere come back with nice crisp edges. This just makes you have to go back for another resole all that much sooner. We all stopped using them.

I've had multiple pairs of shoes go through Rock and Resole, and they've always done great work. I've also used the Rubber Room and they were good too.I wouldn't hesitate to use either if the price and wait times are comparable, but I probably default to R&R now.

However, one thing to note is that some shops do not have all rubber options. In my cursory internet research R&R seemed to have one of the largest selections.

I got a new pair of shoes with XS Grip 2... was great for smear, but felt less secure for everything else. I'm getting them resoled with C4 to test the difference, but I've always loved XS Edge for thin feet.

New England resole

I've had 1 good but multiple bad experiences with them - extended turnaround times and bad and/or no communication, as well as resole jobs that didn't seem to last long, new rubber that quickly peeled off, or new rubber peeking off right out of the return shipping bag (before I'd even tried using them again).

They are the only one's I've tried. Maybe all resole jobs aren't as good as I'm expecting, but I've found it more worthwhile (time, money, quality, hassle) to just get new shoes instead of resoling.

EDIT:
just saw this, I guess +1. Maybe I should try one of these other companies.../

I sent 3 pairs to Rock and Resole, 2 of them Katana Laces and one pair of Skwamas and they all came back exceptionally well done.

shout out to prodeal resoles

http://www.prodealresoles.com/

I got 3 pairs resoled. one TC pro with a decent sized hole in the toe needing a new rand. cost me $96 plus shipping on the way out. so averaged out to about $35 per shoe. not too shabby.

He has vibram grip and edge.

The work was great and the shoes look brand new. even the tc pro with a hole in the toe.

Current turn around is 3.5 weeks for them.

I’m sure if you called Mark and explained what you didn’t like he would do the resole how ever you like. Mark’s super laid back and is has been a climber and cobbler his entire career.

I have never used him but what is to explain? my shoe with this rubber basically as close as possible to what it would be from the factory. Which you get from R&R, so that is who I use.

I just received two resoled pairs from Rock and Resole today. They both look and feel great!

I switched to Greater Tahoe Gripworks.  The shoes come back better than new.  Fast service, good prices. tahoegripworks.com/
