Interested. Bonus points for North Face?

You know I think someone got hit by a rock on that last summer.  Life flight the whole nine yards.  That face is peeling off like crazy with bowling balls flying down each chute.  It’s probably plastered shut by ice but I’d hate to commit to that route.  High danger factor.  I’m primarily concern with avalanches however the trek in has three danger spots that I recall.  The nice thing is the lakes will be frozen making the trek easier.  I was thinking the east ridge with the few pitches of 5 easy climbing which will probably require easy mixed skill.  Avalanche lake/ huckleberry creek approach seems best to avoid large boulders.  I’d entertain the idea of the north face.  Maybe maps, photos, get together?

Did you make it? Bit of an old post but I’ve been kicking the idea around ever since I listened to Doug McCarty’s interview on Alpinist podcast...

I'd be game! I guide the E ridge in the summer, I haven't been there in the winter though. Super alluring wintertime objective.

be carefull and take  photos.  hats off to you guys..   I get my ass kicked in the summer by the tetons, can't imagine the level of fitness required to get up something like that in the winter..

I might be bailing this year.  I’ve totally over committed to some other things.  Good luck if you go!  Fill me in

We turned around before we got to FTD Plateau because we didn’t like what we were seeing in the snow pack.

A buddy and I are going in early February, what approach did you use?

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
