Purple cord was all done by previous owners, though I agree the tails are too short. Also, bump.

So the knots were tied by previous owners but you used them anyway without checking them?  What about the rest of the cords?  Most if not all of the double fishermans knots are tied incorrectly, not just the purple cord, which also happens to have very short tails.

Now you've passed on those dangerous knots to another new owner.  And the cycle continues...

BUYER BEWARE!!!:  most, if not all, of the knots which are supposed to be DOUBLE FISHERMANS KNOTS ARE TIED INCORRECTLY and are unsafe.  Make sure you retie all of them.  This knot is frequently tied incorrectly and most climbers, even experienced, dont even notice it.  If you cant figure it out I will be glad to show what is wrong and how to tie it correctly.

Sure looks wrong, but do you have any evidence that it's unsafe?  There's a reasonable chance one of those pieces has been fallen on and the owner apparently lived to tell about it.

Yes, but I would have to show you using a double overhand which is what the double fishermans knot is made with.  The correct way of tying the knot will lock it in place.  The incorrect way easily comes undone just by pushing the ends together.

It appears the original owner has gotten lucky then.  There is also a reasonable chance they have never fallen on them.
