Been technical climbing outside around the world since 2012. Been climbing random shit since before double digits. 2 first ascents, maybe more; 1 big wall free and aid; roof climbing sport and DWS in the Mediterranean; been caught after 30 ft whippers on nuts and cams; been bloodied by popping cams; leading trad past roofs by headlamp; a few onsight free soloes; lead solo up multipitch trad; 12+ onsight; gym boulder setting; climbed outside with 13+ climbers. Thx y'all. Just reporting an incident. I wasn't shocked that it pulled out at less than a kN. It just struck me as something that coulda been deadly.

Since 2012? Shit, my new gear is older than your career. I've had projects last longer than your career. He'll, I've even had slumps nearly as long as you've been around.

The thing did'nt budge. This was on the Matron in the Flatirons. If I see a pin that looks and feels solid, I will trust the hell out of it. So you're basing your future safety on a single, anecdotal data point? Seems wise to me.

A couple of things I´ve noticed in the last 50 years about pitons. 1)Pitons are often hammered into cracks. 2)Cracks don´t get smaller with age.
