Can anyone comment on the current condition of Lambs Slide? I'm planning on heading up there in the next week and it would be great to have some idea of what I'm going to encounter as far as snow conditions.

Firm snow (neve) from top to bottom so great cramponing conditions but tough for step kicking. Slick and hard. Ice is forming on Longs now and not melting during the day.

Decent conditions to use microspikes and trail shoes instead of boots & crampons?

I'm sure that it can be done on microspikes but likely not the best way to keep from falling down this steep slope in my professional opinion. I wouldn't consider it without boots and proper crampons, there's a reason that "slide" is in the name. Having said that I've skied it many times:

I was just up there yesterday and I wouldn't use micro spikes. Like Eli said above, it's mostly firm snow but there are a handful of sections where it's almost solid ice. I was very happy to be in boots and crampons.
