A bit premature, but I'll be moving to greenville SC at the end of August and I definitely want to check out the boulders at yonah.

Yonah will be a scorcher this time of year.I wold recommend getting an early start on the main face. Sun hits at around noon. The lowers offers some shade and white wall stays pretty shady this time of year but might be a little weedy.

Updated guide to boulders is in Southern Appalachian Bouldering...
www.tinyurl.com/UpstateBouldering but most routes are listed here on MP too. The Parking Lot Boulders don't have too many FAs left unless you climb V10 or above, and I doubt anybody could climb that hard at Yonah this time of year with such hot/lack of friction conditions. Don't expect better conditions than Rocktown as well, the area heats up quick to an oven this time of year and the black flies are no fun too.

I'll be moving to greenville at the end of August and was trying to track down various guide books. Didn't have a ton of success until I came across this site. lulu.com/shop/search.ep?key…;type= I had mine printed and they should be in the mail as we speak.

Most all of the resources I found did have your name on them Brad, so thanks for that. I look forward to seeing you all out in the woods come Fall.

Not a problem C. McGannon...I'm always happy to help folks find those lesser known spots! If I can ever be of help, feel free to get in touch! Big Rock is one of the newer and best climbing/bouldering resources in the Upstate and should definitely be on your radar! When you're in Greenville, you should hit Climb at Blue Ridge and try to hook up with Jared Hancock. He's a super psyched local climber that's full of beta and knowledge and almost always willing to get out and climb with anybody that's competent and able! He also works at Sunrift Adventures, the only real outfitter in Greenville. Again, don't hesitate if you need some help with anything and if you're ever out at Big Rock (and over 21) hit me up and ride by my place a few miles away for a homebrew :)

My guides came in the mail and I can't wait to get out and explore these places!! I'm really interested in yonah and corner rock and stoked to have jocassee so close to home. When choosing where to move I had a couple other towns to consider including Chattanooga. I cut my teeth as a climber at the big 3 in the southeast (LRC, horse pens, rocktown) and not that I've climbed everything there, but I wanted to move close to crags I had never been to before to be able climb through the grades again. Greenville seems perfect for this, lots of smaller crags nearby with rumbling bald (I've never been) in close proximity. Definitely looking to check out, Boone, Lilly boulders, Grayson highlands, moores wall and wherever else people are psyched on.

I'm reaching semi old man status as far as climbers go (33) so and I love craft beer, so you've got yourself a deal on some homebrew action.

Obed is amazing. Lilly boulders stay in shade all day with of overhang to stay dry

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
