LOST: Petzl Summit 2 Mountaineering Axe, MT. Hood

Was skiing under the old chute on April 1, and got to the bottom only to realize that my Axe had slipped from my pack. Really bummed because I had just bought the axe the previous day.
The Axe had a bit of red webbing tied through the head as a leash and was last seen/used descending to a shelf on the Old Chute to transition to ski mode. We then skied the rest of the chute and proceeded down the West Crater Rim. My thought is that it fell out coming down the rim. I went back the following week to conduct a rescue operation, but to no avail. I fear the mountain has consumed the tool, but hold out hope to the contrary!
