Wow. Just Wow. Let's be honest, California's just a bunch of pot-smoking transgenders and West Virginia is a load of moonshining racists. Any other questions about states? I hear Florida's just old people and drunk college kids, and Texans are all asshole oil-barons. Not to mention that people from New York are all just Hippies that never left their apartment buildings. Or the fact that everyone who lives in Idaho must grow/be a potato. And I'll be damned if I forget that anyone from the Midwest eats corn for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Last, but certainly not least, let's get a hand for Mississippi, the state sponsor of the KKK. |

also the cabins at snowbird just burned down so better stay away. no showers or shitters. |

Damn rednecks probably broke a glass of moonshine then dropped the lighter while they were smoking meth. |

Hence political incorrectness is basically anything that a liberal might find offensive ( which is generally just about everything, particularly if it is true.) Society continues to advance. Equal pay for equal work; don't use the n-word; gays are people too, etc. I don't think it's too much to expect that attitudes change as well. What worked for your grandfather doesn't always work now. Hard truth for some to accept, I know. |

Alia S wrote:I am a dumb Californian visiting friends in Chapel Hill this week and then driving up to climb at Seneca Rocks for the weekend. Here's the scenario I have in my head: Shitty rental car breaks down, possibly in the snow. No cell reception. I knock on the door of the shack from Deliverance. I forget that I look a) vaguely like an immigrant and b) vaguely like a lesbian. Out-of-work coal miners and/or meth-heads set their dogs after me while screaming, "THANKS, OBAMA." My body is fed to the pigs. I totally realize this is hysterical BS, but as climbers hopefully we can agree that fear is not always rational or entirely within our control. So! Can anyone recommend some good spots along the way ( goo.gl/maps/WYootLB71xC2) for food/gas stops? Or mention places I legitimately should avoid? Zero offense meant -- this is about my dose of crazy, not WV's. -_- Your 'shitty scenario' didn't happen yet and it may never happen, so why not travel to West By God Virginia with a non-judgmental, positive attitude and then see what kind of experience you have. After you travel there, sure, now you can pass judgment on the place based on your experience. |

But it won't kill you to act and speak politely and consider the feelngs of others. Considering the feelings of others is one thing. Bending over everytime someone claims to be offended by something is another. Particularly when someone claims to be offended for some other group of people... |

What I love most about this thread is when white people not used to having stereotypes used on them get angry and counter by applying stereotypes to the offending party. |

I'd be more worried about Chapel Hill..... |

Note references to Mexicans, purple drank and other stereotypes that have nothing to do with the original post. Please stick to stereotypes about lesbians and brown people. Thank you. I'm offended that you're offended because you perceived I was offended. |
