I'm thinking about bolting in Boulder Canyon and I'm wondering what the red tape looks like in the area.

No red tape, but perhaps check in with some locals (Haas, Hare, Me, others, etc.) to see if others are working in the area… But that would all depend on where you were thinking… Cheers.

There may be red tape (i.e., a total ban) on bolting at Bummers Rock, which is located on Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks property. Various other undeveloped or under-developed crags might be on Boulder Open Space or private land. Be sure your crag is on U.S. Forest Service land before proceeding.

What is the best way to go about doing this if it looks like it could be in a boundary area?

Put the bolts next to splitter cracks for best results.

Please do this. It will be an instant classic. I will come from NH to climb this beautiful testpiece bolt ladder and prove my skills as an aid climber.
