The design is pretty basic guys, like seriously buy a cheap pair of trainers and resole them in sticky rubber, seems like a no brainer to me.

Superclimber,
I had a pair of Salewa Alp Trainers. I climbed up to about 5.5 basalt with them/they did quite well. They are one of the toughest shoes I've ever used. Damn things are built like a tank!

They definitely aren't just a cheap pair of trainers with sticky rubber. The weight of the shoe is super light, but the midsole and heel are pretty stiff.

I'll probably dislocate my shoulder patting myself on the back like this, but I managed to find 5 pairs on Sierra right after they got discontinued. Two more fresh pairs to go...

Hopefully somebody can come up with a reasonable replacement in the next 3 years. No idea what I'll do if they don't.

They just look like a motion control trainer with sticky rubber. How much do they weigh exactly?
Edit: fuck off are they light buy a pair of brooks ghost 7 for cheap and resole with sticky rubber, will weight less than the exum pros and will be easily reproducible. I came up with this in 5 minutes.

The Xplorers were out for a few years (but are now discontinued as well???) They were a decent replacement IMO:

And appears the newness is the TX3 and TX series as a whole:

Lighter the the Exum pros and still maintain the stiffness in the mid foot, and the width that you guys love.

What size shoe do you wear? Maybe I could offer you a ridiculous amount of cash and finagle a pair from you. I got buddy that did the same thing you did and every time we are out climbing and people see them they go nuts, and ask how they could be in such good condition.

The Exums are better at easy climbing than the (Ultra) Raptors. The Raptors have no heel loop, which gives away that they are designed as trail runners--not approach shoes.

-This is a good idea, I like the Brooks Ghost, very minimal heel to toe drop, if going longer distances and need more protection by the heel the Brooks Adrenaline GTS is another excellent option. Both offer very little by way of protecting the top of the foot and wouldn't be able to handle much abuse, but they would definitely be light.

-I can live without the loops on the back of the shoe, they come with laces and I'm a climber, I'm sure I can finagle something.

Thoughts on the Sportiva TX2 and TX3?

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
