Can you also let me know what phone you have. Thank you

Eventually I would like to expand it to boots, but for now it's just rock climbing shoes. Unfortunately adding a shoe is a somewhat manual process for now. You can send me an email at or pm here with what shoe you want to add and I will add it.

Add an optional field to the user profile "Do you know your sizing on a Brannock Device?"

For those who know their Brannock size and width, that would prove indispensable as that is the only true common-use standardized foot measurement. That would also be an easy way to calculate sizing trends across brands and shoe models.

That would be much more useful data than asking about street shoe size which can be wildly arbitrary.

The drop down menus were a little hard to work with for me as well on my phone. Figured out I had to hold what I was "clicking on" for about 2-3 seconds and then release for it to register what I was doing. I am on an Apple IPhone with the newest OS update iOS 9.3.1. Other than that one thing the site looked great to me!

From one of my female climber friends: " I registered, but it won't let me add shoes. It also keeps picking the women's solutions for me, even though I have the men's version. "

Another great idea to go along with the shape and toe info. Eliminates the variability between brands.

Just some thoughts.

Shoe companies usually put a last type on their site for the shape of the show as far as asymmetry goes. I think that this would be more useful than trying to describe the shape of the shoe.

It would be nice if there was a width description for the shoes. from about 4 years of fitting people for climbing shoes I know that a good deal of how the shoe fits comes from the width. It can also make or break the climbers experience

There is really no end to how many parameters you could use to find the perfect shoe for you. The most I could suggest would be a slider scale for each area of the shoe(heal, arch, toe box) ranging from too tight-perfect-too loose.

Other than that I love the concept for the sight!

Eddie,

Looks like a great start, you have obviously put some thought and work into the site. I have a difficult foot to fit; 12.5 length, EEE forefoot, size 15 arch, a narrow heel plus Morton's toe, so your site has the potential to be really helpful for folks like me; I could stop burning up so much carbon sending shoes back and forth to internet vendors.
A section or field describing a user's foot attributes could be really useful here (wide/narrow, high/low volume...etc).

Thanks!

what kind of climbing do you do? and what kind of shoe do you tend to gravitate towards?

Thanks for the feedback Alex. I'm finding it that its definitely a balancing act between keeping the site accessible and easy to use, and getting the matching to be more accurate.

Hi everyone,

First of all another thank you to everyone who signed up and added their shoes to the site. Just a quick update of some of the new features which are now live on the site. I know there is still a bunch of improvements to be made, and rest assured that I'm working on them.

Shoe Buddies:
You'll now see which users have similar shoes to yourself, in your same sizes and not in your same sizes. You'll see this on the match screen and at the bottom of your profile page.

Street Shoe Sizing:
One of the most requested features, we've added a spot where you can add your street shoe size on your profile (under Change User Details). Sizesquirrel will use this as a secondary way to try to find matches.

Thanks again everyone!

I climb mostly moderate, multi-pitch trad routes and crack climbing but I also like edgey/slabby sport stuff. Alpine/mountaineering as well. La Sportive Mythos has been my go-to, although some of the Scarpa lasts fit my feet. TC Pros are about the only stiffish shoe that I've found to fit my feet and they're awesome!

Your SEO needs a little work. Here's me searching for your site:

Though bonus points for Google's result.

Another future feature: Approach shoe sizing.

It's gonna be tough to beat that photogenic marmot, but we're working on it.

Several people have requested approach shoe sizing. And we will add that in the future.

Thanks

I know you're probably swamped with all the suggestions from here and reddit, but a feature I think would be great to see is a split size matching system. If integrated into the existing system you could feasibly find people who require split sized shoes with opposite sizes. This way people could find "size matches" where two people could buy a pair of shoes, ship the shoe that doesn't fit well to the other, and then get a split sized pair of shoes for less than retailers would charge. While the number of actual matches would be very low, it might be worth integrating since you're already collecting shoe size data and statistically it is likely you could find some matches with a large enough user base. While I don't have split sized feet myself, I can imagine the frustration people who do would face trying to buy new shoes and this feature could help remedy some of that.

I am unaware if this feature exists elsewhere on the internet, my searching has shown nothing aside from some charities for amputees.

This is a cool idea, I'm going to jot it down, but dont expect it any time soon.

Another quick update.

I've added fit information. While the site isn't using it to do matching just yet, you can describe your shoe fit a little better by adding "Comfortable" "Normal" or "Aggressive" to your shoes.

This was by far the number one requested feature. Enjoy!

Glad that someone is bringing this idea to life. Added my quiver.

Love this!
to throw my suggestion in, adding something about toe shape, ie
foot/toe shapes
might be a good way to let people add more info about their feet!
Thanks for doing this! I hope it grows!

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
