[Edit: THE SHOE HAS BEEN FOUND! A big thank you to Russ for grabbing it and for Brandt and Chris for looking. We're very grateful for all the help.]

My girlfriend lost a running shoe on the side of the road in Yucca Valley this afternoon when we went to raid the trunk for snacks. We didn't notice it until we got home to Los Angeles.

I know the exact location where we stopped and I'm quite certain it's there. I'd be very grateful if someone could grab it and mail it back to us. I'd be more than happy to Paypal you $50 for your trouble.

The loss of the shoe is unfortunate, but she had prescription insoles in it which are super expensive to replace. So it'd be a huge help if someone could grab it.

I've attached pictures of the shoe, insole, and the probable location. We stopped at a dirt pullout on the side of 62 in Yucca Valley just before heading down the big hill toward Morongo Valley. It's a women's Brooks running shoe, white (at one time) with pink highlights, size 9.5.

[Edit: Apparently I do not know the exact location. This area has been searched--thanks Brandt!--and the shoe was not found. Additional theories include Echo Cove parking area and a one-legged homeless dude in Yucca Valley.]

Thank you, everyone,

Pete

I looked all around at the site for a while this morning. No shoe to be seen.

Brandt, thanks so much for looking. I really appreciate that. And sorry about the bad beta.

The shoes came off at the Echo Cove parking area. Seems unlikely but maybe this one escaped before it even made it into the car. Russ, thanks for your suggestions.....we'll call the park and Nomad.

Man we walked right by it on our way out from Echo Rock on Sunday evening. It was right there in the parking lot all alone. Had no idea what to do with it so left it alone. Thought owner might come back.

Wow--we're totally blown away by all your help. My girlfriend is thrilled by the news and I'm sure the shoes are glad to live to hike another day.

Russ, the donation has been made and I'll PM you my mailing address.

Chris, thank you for reporting your shoe sighting.

And a big thank you to everyone else who looked for the shoe. We're feeling very grateful for such an awesome and supportive community right now.

Good folk in the high desert... we just take some getting used to sometimes.
