Ok, I can't bite my tongue any longer, and I've waited 18 hours to make this post... To the person who took my Petzl head lamp at Great Western Power Company last night, not cool. I used that head lamp to safely ride my bike to the gym from home, so that cars could see me. Even more so, that was the first time I'd even used it! The darn thing hadn't made it to the mountains yet. If you're by any chance reading this, and it slipped your mind to return a head lamp that you found next to a back pack (I hope I left it out, and that my pack wasn't intentionally rummaged through) to the front desk, this is your chance to return it to its rightful owner. And if it was some grimy individual who doesn't even frequent the MP forums, maybe this can serve as a dirty little reminder that most of us try to ignore as a fact of reality... Your shit isn't safe in a gym unless it's locked away in a cupboard. I'm not sure if this is a 'poor form' post, I simply couldn't not say something.

Do your thing. That really sucks! As someone who just bought a fancy Petzl headlamp and got to climb with it at night I feel your pain. 100 bones is too much to lose! Maybe you misplaced it? Earth Treks in Baltimore and others I've been to are safe. I never lock up anything and the only trouble was car break ins. There's a rehab cross the street, damn junkies :)

I don't quite think it was a junky that did this, but this is in Oakland, so who knows... On to the next head lamp!

I'm now realizing that I've never used the bathrooms at gwpc, mostly because it's close to my home. Weird

Funny coming across this. First sorry about your head lamp. Sucks and all. I left my iphone in the changing room last night. Totally spaced and just left it sitting there. It was after 8pm and the gym was closed by the time i realized it was gone. Got on line and went to the find my phone app and brought up the gps, Sure enough the phone a was sitting in the gym for the night. Anyhow. Not all oaklandians are would be head lamp thieves. There is at least one kind soul who handed my phone in. Cheers

Then one instance converted me from ever-the-optimist to jaded cynic. That being said, I've left my stuff lying around for over a year at both IW and GWPC with no prior issues. Anyways, thanks for the condolences for the dissaperance of the fledging headlamp.
