Since the AAC campground is closed.. can we camp at camp slime for the winter months? or is the MUA the only choice?

It is my understanding that camp slime is closed.

Slime has been closed all year (and will be indefinitely) and I believe that the AAC is too now. It looks like MUA is the only nearby option.

At least it should be easy to find an open spot, unlike most of the year.

Slime is not "indefinitely" closed - it's permanently closed.

It' really lame that they would close slime so they can put in the aac site.. and then not open it year round.. boo Mhonk preserve.. boooooo.

The Preserve first started talking about wanting to close Slime over 25 years ago, due to sanitation, noise, soil compaction, the fact that the Preserve really isn't in the campground business, etc. This was a long term desire, finally enabled by the new AAC site. Your grip is really with the AAC and their closure dates.

Disclaimer: the last time I camped in Slime was when I was in college, so no more recently than 1976. I always thought it sucked. If it was going to be a clear night, my pref was for one of the multitude of bivi sites...... until I bought a pick-up truck with a cap.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
