Kick that bear's ass!!! Really I would've ignored the bear. I'm a hyperbolic pussy. Hope Greg is recovering well in Banff! Not a bad place to chill..

WTF is a bear doing still awake?
And these 2 should get a prize for being the first people ever to "hide" from a "grizzly" in the forest.

Should have taken the ice tools (all four of them) to the skull of that bear! Right between the eyes...

Why don't we hear about more climber and bear encounters? Seems like the number of climbers in the woods would lead to more encounters than we hear about. Are they happening and not bring reported?

Are they happening and not bring reported? My wife was belaying me at a sport crag near Mammoth 20 years ago and a bear rambled by, grabbed our lunch, which was sitting next to our packs, and ran off. Fortunately, we had Dominoes on speed dial.

Are they happening and not bring reported? I encountered a bear in the Stuart Range last august. I encountered it hightailing it down the slope away from me. This is why they don't get reported.

Are they happening and not bring reported? There was a story of a couple of climbers who encountered a bear high on the Ruth glacier. IIRC, it chased them up an ice slope, then ate all their food while they waited out of reach until a plane could fly in to rescue them. The next season we went in to do a route in the Ruth, got stuck in our tent in a white out, then looked outside and were terrified by what appeared to be a bear! Debated which way to run if things went bad, then it cleared a bit, we looked out and discovered we had been spooked by a sparrow.
