I just moved to the east and am living in Burlington. I'd be up for ice climbing on the weekends and after work if I can find partners! I'm pretty new to ice climbing, but have all of the stuff, and some decent fitness!

Seamus, perhaps consider changing the name of the thread to vermont/new hampshire ice climbing partners.

lukeweiss, I hope you've got some time on your hands wanting to do Garcia-Vega. 34 years it's been on my tick list and have not seen it form very often though it looked "in enough" to thrash to the base three times. De-lammed, thin, shit ice each time. Even when my partner and I were doing pretty bold stuff we never really gave it a go. In fact I think I know personally only two people who've done it. Both pretty well known climbers. I'll keep my eye on this thread for partners - retired in September at 55 so have lotsa free time to climb. Though for me these days it's more about mileage than how hard (though I can still lead 4, maybe a 5 if I'm feeling good!). Mark

Hey guys, I'm thinking of trying to climb Henderson Ridge this Saturday with my brother. Anybody know if this ridge tends to have ice build up on it? I've climbed it with him twice before so my only concern is we get there and can't climb it without crampons (he has no experience on ice or snow.) I'm thinking besides it being cold, it will still be climbable in rock shoes. Anybody think otherwise? If I make it out there, I'll post what I find as far as the gullies and ice conditions.

Seamus, this time of year it will depend highly on the weather the day or two leading up to your climb. If it's dry and sunny, climbing in rock shoes will be fine. If the snow showers that are forecasted continue, it's likely that you'll find most/all of the ridge plastered with rime. Either way expect to find pockets of snow in the shaded parts of the ridge. Good luck! November is a rough time to climb alpine rock on Mt Washington.

Yesterday some friends and I hiked up mt.washington by way of Tuckerman's ravine. It had some nice ice comeing in on it. Still only a inch or two thick but in a few weeks, it should be great for climbing in Tuckerman or Huntington ravines. I have no idea how it looks below the lake in the clouds but some guys that I met comeing down said that it was too thin for vertical climbing, but the low angle stuff was do-able for climbing.

Thanks for the update, gents. I didn't make it to Mt. Washington on Saturday...decided to change our plans. Zac, sounds like you soloed the route? Probably too thin for much pro I'm guessing.
