Hi All, I will be spending part of November and December travelling around the Iberian Peninsula and looking to climb along the way. I will be arriving in Barcelona Nov 12th, will likely stay there several days visiting some friends and hopefully do some climbing, then I plan to head south, following the coast, no set itinerary, maybe make my way through Valencia, Alicante/Murcia, Malaga/El Chorro, Morocco?, Rocha da Pena, Lisbon, etc. Open to suggestions, If you plan to be in these areas or nearby, let me know!
I will have all my personal gear, 60m rope, rental car and all gear necessary for sport climbing.
I currently lead 5.9/5.10a, follow 5.10s. Single or multi-pitch. Safe belayer. My goal is to climb some awesome, fun routes with dramatic/beautiful settings, not terribly concerned with projecting routes or ticking particular grades.
Awesome, fun routes sounds pretty great. I'm going to be in Spain for the next couple weeks I think, and then I have to get out of the Schengan zone for a bit for visa stuff. Turkey and Morocco have been my two ideas. I was leaning toward Turkey, but mostly for ease of finding a climbing partner. How interested are you in Morocco/when about do you think you'd be making it down that way?
Gradewise, I'm probably about the same as you on trad, but a little higher on sport I think. Though I haven't been climbing with US grades for a while, so it's all a bit of guesswork.
