Hey all, so I landed a gig in Tahoe for the season. I consider myself to be an intermediate skier and am looking to get into some sidecountry/backcountry skiing this year. I haven't done any skinning but have some BC snow travel and avy experience (I'll be taking the Level 1 this year too).
Do you all know of any groups or anything that are open to bringing along beginners to introduce them to BC skiing in the area?
Which town did you move to?? The guys at the Back Country in Truckee can definitely give you some good info. Backcountry skiing in that area is great, just hope for more snow this year...the last few have been terrible. Good luck!
Hey Nick, I'll be in Tahoe City and working at Squaw. I'll have to roll by the shop and talk to them - on the market for some AT bindings anyways. Definitely hoping for some snow, looks like a system is passing through as we speak.
Sweet that's a great location, I like Truckee but it's expensive as hell. I can highly recommend the Dynafit Radical FT, best binding I've ever ridden, light as anything and very strong. I have the last generation which is priced a bit better now ($525 on dynafit.com) but I bet you can find a deal, I did at $400. Good luck there, if it snows I'll be out!
