routes for kids in Mammoth Lakes area
|

I'm looking for a place to take my 4 and 8 yr olds. I see that there are lots of 5.6 in Mammoth, but wonder if there is one place I can go to have access to more than 2 easy routes. Thanks for your help. |

Awesome you are taking the kids out! I would recommend Casa Diablo if you are looking for some easy climbs, but also a variety of grades as well. It is also an awesome place to just walk around and check out. Clark's easy grades are still pretty high off the ground for beginners, especially 4 and 8 years old. Catacombs are really cool to check out too(other stuff besides climbing). There are easy VB v0- boulder problems and might be fun to introduce climbing there. Good luck! Ps the town of mammoth has several climbing camps for children specifically as well as Sierra Mountain Guides. I would probably recommend SMG over town... |

the horseshoe lake area should have plenty of easy climbs. quick hike and close to town. get the mammoth guide for stuff that's not on MP. if you want a long drive, great views and climbing, go check out casa diablo. |
