Upper Devils Accident

Anyone know any more about this? Was it a climber? |
Sadly, yes. The man had just finished belaying a climber on Projectiles. Our understanding is that the climber had finished, and the belayer was stuck by a falling rock while still on the belay ledge. The belay ledge there is 50-60 feet below the rim. I'm with PCSO SAR and just got home from the body recovery. |

A little more information in the news today. How tragic. |
Awful news. Sincere condolences to his family and friends. Be careful friends. |
No words. Awful. Such a low objective hazard place, one expects. I didn't even bring a helmet to that crag. |

John will be missed, I have nothing but happy memories. John would always approach others with a smile and a helpful hand. He was full of wisdom yet always gathering knowledge. He was always a gentleman and sometimes acted as a mentor to those with less years. He had a deep love for the outdoors and formed great friendships with many of us. |
