Stiffest Shoes (not called TC Pros)
|
|
Looking for a pair of relatively inexpensive ($130 or less) pair of shoes that are as stiff as possible. I already have TC pros. I'm looking for a low top shoe, one that's not incredibly aggressive, but they doesn't have to be completely flat-lasted. |

Boreal Aces. $139 |

I got some 5.10 newtons on sale ($90 or so) this last spring, I think they're the stiffest (at least one of them) shoe 5.10 makes. Low top, super comfy, and stiff. My only gripe is the obvious lack of sensitivity and the fat toe isn't the best for smaller-than-hands cracks. |

I second the Astromans. Got a pair for $105. Love them |

Acopa Legends are crazy stiff if you can find a pair that fits. |

Boreal ballet gold. High top but very stiff, board lasted shoes. Much stiffer than TC's. I believe bent gate and/or neptune carries them. |

FWIW TC pro's really don't seem all that stiff to me when they're broken in...mine were pretty soft after a couple months. |

+1 Astroman's - killer shoe |

Evolv goshidos. Thick, low topped, laced or strapped, tight in the toe box. |

The 5.10 Stonelands are the most comprable to the TC shoe I've found so far. They have a stiffened midsole and an assymmetrical toe box. They also hit the price point you're looking for. They hold an edge better/longer than the Anasazi (stiffened midsole) and are better at edging and toeing in than the Astroman (more assymetrical in the instep). The Newtons are also just really poorly performing shoes overall. |

5.10 Galileo is quite a stiff shoe. |
