Going to be driving from The Woodlands, TX to Las Vegas starting probably the night of Nov25 (monday) getting to Red Rocks whenever I do, staying with friends in a rented home and leaving to drive back probably sometime early around Dec2 (monday). The absolute best scenerio would be finding a partner in my area (or on the way?) to carpool and split the driving up / co-pilot. Though so close to the trip that is now very unlikely.
The group I am meeting up with is already split into 2 two-climber teams and I'm the odd duck out. In order to avoid a slow inefficient three-climber team I'm trying to find a climbing partner (or partners) to cover these days.
I don't have any really specific climbs in mind. I'd just like to do a lot of fun easy multipitch trad (leading AND following), around 5.7-5.8 and under, slightly higher could be ok if it wasn't the whole route. Just want to get a bunch of pitches in and get pretty high. I have only trad lead up to around 5.7 (treebeard at Horseshoe Canyon Ranch), but would be willing to try to lead harder if I feel confident and protection opportunities are obvious. I can follow trad or sport under .10c or so, maybe harder if falling repeatedly is an option.
Would be up for top roping some shorter cracks especially off-widths to laugh at myself and build technique on too. As well some chimneys could be cool as someday I'd like to try epinephrine with a friend (we could even try just the chimney pitches one day if your confident you can lead it). Solar slab could be cool. Really pretty open.
Must have safe belay technique (pull in slack, lock down, pull hand to below brake hand, slide break hand up, repeat.) Must have trad leading and following experience. Would prefer an old fart with a lot of energy and more experience than myself.
I have essentially a double rack from aliens through old C4#5, rope, etc.
If I can't find someone for RR, I may fall to Indian Creek as a backup plan. If I understand correctly its supposed to be pretty popular around thanksgiving which should hopefully mean lots of people letting me jump on things. It would certainly improve my crack climbing, but I'd really rather do RR this trip for the multipitch and easier trad leads.
