Yesterday the whole north shore was closed out so I drove out to Peahi aka Jaws and shot a few photos from the bluff. Most of the local big wave paddle in crew was out. Shane Dorian and Kai Lenny were the only two that I recognized since I spaced out my binoculars. This was arguably the heaviest day paddled in at Jaws so far!

Recently the best pro and amateur wave sailors in the world gathered at Hookipa Beach Park to compete in the Aloha Classic wave sailing competition. The competition was extremely heavy day after day.
I was invited to compete in the Grand Masters division but that’s just not my game these days.
Instead I set up my camera and tripod on the bluff above all the action.
I wound up with so many awesome images that I am overwhelmed by the sheer volume of the file.
I belong to a group called “The Kuau Yacht Club”. The K.Y.C. is an informal group of sailors that surf and wave sail together almost every day that the conditions are favorable.
We had several of our members competing in the Aloha Classic so I decided to show case my friends from the K.Y.C.

Friday was one of the better surfing days that we've had so far this winter.
It looked kinda big in my back yard and the swell was rising so I surfed at Kanaha with some friends. It was about a foot smaller and just about perfect there. It was a little too busy but the vibe was good. I got some great waves and had a great session.
Before I went down to Kanaha I shot some photos down the street from my house at Lanes.

The same day as my last post there was considerable action going down over on the north shore of Oahu.
The Sunset leg of the Triple Crown was going off.
The best pro surfers in the world battled it out heat after heat.
Kelly Slater took the win in the final seconds of the final heat.
Pipeline was Absolutely Ridiculously Awesome!

I surfed Kanaha today.
I found out that a SUP'er fell of his board in the line up and he landed on a 13' Tiger shark!
There were still plenty of surfers out today and it was Big.
I got some waves and got clobbered several times as well.
After a two wave hold down you start to need a breath!
Game on over here!

Pipe Masters was on today, next call tomorrow 7:30 HST.

Then I went home and made lunch and watched the PIPE MASTERS!
Bad ASS Day!

Had a great day climbing w friends, sent a 12, and then went home and watched the Pipe Masters live for 3 hours w some hot apple cider (it's been cold around here). It was a good day indeed. :-)
