Heading out west tomorrow with my dog and girlfriend. Hoping to score some good beta on (ideally free) dog friendly areas to camp in Rifle Mountain and Ouray/Lake City area.

Would also appreciate any suggestions for hikes and sport crags: my gf TRs at the 5.10 level, I can onsight most rifle mid-range elevens on my 'on days' but haven't been there in ages, so I might be proven wrong.

Following the weather forecast, we're planning for Ouray Tues & Wed then Rifle on the way back to Denver from Thurs through Fri/Sat. If anyone wants to meet up, lemme know!

Thanks and as always, I'm gonna die.

Sincerely yours,
-Jon

Rifle is super dog friendly. There are dogs at all crags all the time. I swear, they use part of the park's budget to keep the place staffed with collie/border mixes even when there are no humans around. Weird?

Seriously, bring your dog. Bring a leash. Let your dog off the leash. Whatevs.

As for camping, when you drive into the park just register and pay for camping. Drive through the canyon to the north end. Finally, cross the creek and then you'll see the ranger house. Now you're near the sites. Pick one, pitch a tent, clean up after your dog...or not.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
