The tyrolean at Tonnere Tower
|
|
Am I the only person who thinks the tyrolean at Tonnere Tower is in very bad shape, and is poorly placed and difficult to reach in the tree? A couple of feet of the sheath on one of the ropes is gone, and it's a difficult move to get up the tree and clipped into the rope. |

I agree and am also willing to donate to help. |

I think the reason the tree on the road side was used was to prevent you getting wet from high water levels. I was out there starting in late may, and got wet almost every time. All that needs to be done is lower that side about 6 inches so that its possible for anyone under 7 feet tall to comfortably clip into the rope. |

Others did it before me, but I've replaced a number of these the past few years. I probably won't make it out there this week, but should be able to get there sometime next week. Thanks for posting something about this. I'm not climbing in the canyon as much as I used to so I don't see these as often. |

Climbed at Tonner yesterday. The tyrol line is BAD. Definitely needs to be replaced ASAP. I would volunteer to do it this weekend but I will be out of town for a whole week. Willing to volunteer to replace it when i return however. |

Haven't been up in the canyon for a few weeks now. Did the Tonner Tyrol about 3 weeks ago and it was in dire need of replacement. |

Water level has been pretty low lately, especially upstream from the Boulder Falls parking. CO DWR gives it at 35 cfs today, but it seemed lower yesterday. You can probably find a place to boulder hop. |

Crossing the river at this time of year is fairly reasonable in most places. However, this is not the point. The tyrol is becoming a hazard and will need to be fixed certainly before next high water season... |

I see the anchors are still there. Not sure about the handline, but there's an easy tree crossing just upstream from the parking. |

This post violated Rule #1. It has been removed by Mountain Project.

If you don't get an answer online, I can try to take a look if I go to Boulder Canyon tomorrow. Where exactly is it WRT the Boulder Falls Parking lot? I assume it'll be obvious if its still the old one? |

I went out a few weeks ago to replace it, and it looked like someone had already done so. Full disclosure - I didn't go all the way down to the line to check it. It had been a static line that I put in a few years ago, and was now a newer looking dynamic rope, so I assumed this was a recent replacement. |
